The EU-funded projects NEUTRALPATH and CLIMABOROUGH, under the Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission, organize, together a first webinar to bring together 19 cities across Europe. This session will see the participation of the Urban Transitions Mission Centre (UTMC) .
The session, taking place on October 24 (10.30 – 12.00 CEST), aims to explore and discuss existing challenges and innovative approaches to energy poverty in the participant projects’ cities and with the contribution of the cities from Ghent (Belgium), Differdange (Luxembourg) and Zhytomyr (Ukraine), diving into the links between energy poverty and achieving the climate neutrality goals.
Energy poverty in the EU is a critical issue affecting millions of households, leading to significant social and economic challenges. While financial measures are necessary in addressing energy poverty, there is a need for behavioural change strategies, rooted in the social context. Tackling this problem is essential for achieving climate neutrality and ensuring an inclusive and just transition.
The energy transition represents an opportunity to improve access to better quality housing, and cities are leading the action, responding to the current energy crisis and social needs with innovative strategies and approaches.
NEUTRALPATH and CLIMABOROUGH consortia, project partners, and cities will be the main audience of the webinar, counting a total of 58 partners across energy companies, housing associations, universities, research institutions, networks of cities, SMEs and a total of 19 participant cities with public administration and supporting local partners.
The webinar is public and participation from partners and cities, other related EU-funded projects and all interested stakeholders at EU level is encouraged.
