City of KRK
The cultural and political capital city of the island – Krk – is located 28 km to the south from the bridge to the mainland on the south coast of the island. In the picturesque old town from Venetian period, there are well preserved city walls, city gates, stone fortification, church and the cathedral.
The vision of the Krk town is an energy self-sufficient town, i.e. a sufficient amount of food is produced to serve the local people. Greenhouse gases are produced mainly by traffic, and fossil fuels are used in transportation only to a small extent only. The town is recognizable by its green industry based on advanced technologies and ecologically aware citizens. The balanced development in all areas creates the conditions for a quality life, population increase and urban expansion. The Town’s agricultural products are marketed through a rich hotel, restaurant and gastro offer.
