The CLIMABOROUGH platform is an integrated monitoring solution developed within the CLIMABOROUGH to support cities in their transition toward climate neutrality. The platform enables cities to monitor, analyse, and evaluate climate actions through data-driven insights and digital services.
Built as a scalable and modular infrastructure, the platform combines data ingestion, analytics, and visualisation capabilities to support evidence-based decision-making. It integrates data from sources such as IoT sensors, municipal systems, and solution providers, creating a reliable foundation for urban monitoring.
At the core of the platform is a KPI engine that processes data to generate indicators aligned with European climate objectives, including energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, mobility, air quality, and citizen engagement.
An interactive dashboard allows city stakeholders to track progress, analyse trends, and assess climate actions, while a Digital Twin supports waste collection optimisation and operational planning.
Data Ingestion
The data ingestion layer collects and harmonises information from multiple sources, including IoT sensors, municipal systems, and external solution providers. It enables cities to manage a structured catalogue of datasets relevant to their urban environment, ensuring consistency, interoperability, and data quality across the platform.
Analytics Engine
At the centre of the platform is a robust KPI engine that processes incoming data and generates both standardised and custom indicators. These indicators are aligned with European climate objectives and mission-oriented frameworks, covering areas such as Greenhouse gas emissions and Citizen engagement.
The analytics layer ensures transparency, traceability, and comparability of metrics across different cities and urban contexts.
Services & Visualisation
The user interface provides an interactive and intuitive dashboard tailored to the needs of city stakeholders, including policy makers, planners, technical teams, and citizens. Through dynamic visualisations, trend analysis, alerts, and reporting tools, users can monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of climate actions over time.
The platform also integrates a Digital Twin dedicated to waste collection optimisation, enabling cities to simulate, analyse, and support operational decision-making processes.
